I got the feeling that he really didn't like police work. But by then he was so deep into it he was brainwashed. He felt powerful having a gun and a badge. And the authority. I never liked his attitude about being a cop — too macho, too cool, better than everyone else. He told stories about how someone would look at him wrong and he'd slap them around, throw them in the squad. He took it to extremes. It was just too much.
I was amazed that he'd do the exact same things he'd arrest people for — like drink and drive. He didn't like it when I questioned this. I never respected the way he was with his gun — careless — he'd carry it everywhere he went, like he was always ready for a shoot-out.
The cops — they bond together, they lie for each other, they do a lot of things that are against the law — like the drinking, sneaking, uncontrollable fits. If there are lots of police hanging around the house, they're up to something. selling something, switching something, dealing something. He had someone steal his car so he could collect the insurance. I told them, but nothing happened to him.
